Hello, I’m Genevieve. I am the owner of studioGpilates by Genevieve. I see pilates as a vehicle that assists integration of the whole person, incorporating all six pilates principles into every repetition and conversely every area of life. In this way, your pilates session is much more than just a physical workout. It contains the principles wherein to return to your center, to feel alive, and to live in alignment physically and spiritually. I am a certified pilates teacher through Power Pilates and Pilates Method Alliance. I also hold certifications in Pilates Booty Barre, Piloxing, Aerialates, Essential Oil Chemistry, and Emotional Release with Essential Oils.
I came to pilates at a time in my life when I was hurting, confused, overwhelmed, and stressed. Although I appeared confident and strong on the outside, I felt weak and had low self-esteem on the inside. I remember my very first pilates workout. I felt an immediate connection with the movement. After my first session I was hooked. I sensed that pilates was something I wanted to excel in because I knew it would make me strong in all the ways that mattered to me. It contained the raw elements of what I needed in order to heal and change my life. To this day, it is my greatest therapeutic tool.
My philosophy of teaching is a little different than a classical pilates studio. Although very foundational to its roots of Joseph Pilates, studioGpilates is unique in that we combine pilates classics with an upbeat, updated understanding of 21st century fitness. It is not uncommon for one of our signature classes to fuse plyometrics, suspension training, yoga, pilates, and cardio all at once. Further, class instruction includes the latest inspiration from quantum mechanics and law of attraction.
Prior to studioGpilates, Genevieve worked in sales and marketing in NYC and Tampa, FL. She graduated from Bucknell University in 2003 with a degree in Psychology and went on to later attend graduate coursework in the areas of behavioral therapy, mental health, and group dynamics. Genevieve is a certified member of Pilates Method Alliance and currently studies with Dr. Joe Dispenza in the area of human potential and change. Genevieve’s passion is in helping people of all ages increase their confidence, happiness, and self-love through pilates and spiritual growth practices.
